Energy Team

The Energy Team works closely with other sustainability partners to identify and fix inefficient infrastructure and improve energy use practices on campus.

Greenhouse Lighting Retrofits

We provided funding (through the Green Fund) to upgrade 1,200 High Intensity Discharge lights with LEDs in three greenhouses, saving over 833 MWh in energy usage and $90,000 per year in energy costs. (2024-2025)

Enzyme Institute Lighting Retrofits

We helped secure funding for lighting upgrades in the Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE) offices in the Enzyme Institute, making the space more livable and efficient. (2024)

Four Lakes Lighting Retrofits

We collaborated with Enactus and University Housing to fund (through the Green Fund) lighting retrofits in kitchens, hallways, and other spaces of Four Lakes Dining. The new LED bulbs will save 112 MWh of electricity a year. (2023)

Waters Residence Hall Lighting Upgrades

We worked with Enactus and University Housing to add motion sensors and LEDs in the hallways and bathrooms of Waters. (2023)

Gordon Dining Hall Fume Hood Control Upgrades

We helped contribute money through the Green Fund to upgrade the kitchen ventilation controls. This is estimated to save 220 MWh in energy usage and over $60,000 in operating costs per year. (2023)
