Solar Microgrid
The engineering team’s signature design is the solar microgrid. It is an independent system that generates, stores, and distributes energy. It has served as the foundation for numerous displays the team has designed over the years. Scroll down to learn more about these projects!
Energy Community
Currently in the early phases, the engineering team is designing 3D house models for their upcoming energy community display. The project aims to demonstrate how solar energy is distributed and stored within an interconnected neighborhood of homes.
Race Against Solar
For the 2025 Engineering Expo, the engineering team designed a two-lane race track where students could go head-to-head with a solar-powered car. While one vehicle was powered by the microgrid, participants were able to power the second car themselves by generating electricity through a hand crank.
